In Progress
This is the first piece where, at the suggestion of my advisor at AIB, I am not using any figurative reference. I continue to feel my way, following the images in my head/heart, but attempting to break them down into an essence that while still being satisfying to me, does not literally suggest a narrative. Stay tuned to see how this comes along - it is a journey!

Nice work Janet! Hey, I looked into AIB, but my impression was that there was only one realist painter on faculty...and I had enough of people trying to steer me away from reality at Tyler. What's your impression?
ReplyDeleteHey Nancy!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I can completely understand your concern, as I had similar misgivings. I was happily, totally, and completely wrong. The faculty is amazing and so talented. Despite their widely varying approaches to creating, no one is going to try to steer you away from working in as radically honest of a way as possible. They only ask you to place whatever you are doing in a thinking, historical, and contemporary context. Why do you do what you do and why should anyone (including you) care? I found the program to far exceed my expectations. I think you would love it and be inspired.
I think there is something wonderful happening in this piece
